EMBARC's mission to expand the world of possibilities for refugees from Burma through advocacy, education, and community development.
EMBARC was founded by and serves members of the refugee community. The majority of board members are from Burma, which ensures that their needs are met and voices are heard first. Some of our past community building projects include clothing drives, green card clinics, tax clinics and flu shot clinics.
Education is also a top priority for refugees as they adapt and create new lives in Iowa. Family Advocates and Community Navigators lead trainings in direct services and applications, so that community members are able to do so independently in the future. Interpretation, filling out documents, transportation, employment, and many other questions are answered from the EMBARC office.
The EMBARC team advocates through presentations and partnerships to reach out to the greater Iowa community. Empowerment and education are the values that drive EMBARC's mission forward.
