Who We Are

Mission: To protect the health, safety, welfare, and rights of individuals residing in long-term care facilities, assisted living programs, and elder group homes in Iowa.

The Iowa State Long Term Care Ombudsman is an essential agency dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights, health, and well-being of individuals living in long-term care settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and elder group homes. The Office of the Long Term Care Ombudsman serves as an advocate for residents, ensuring that they are treated with respect, dignity, and care, and that their voices are heard when concerns arise.

What We Do

The Iowa State Long Term Care Ombudsman advocates for the rights and well-being of residents in long-term care facilities by investigating complaints, promoting quality care, educating residents and staff, and providing transition assistance. The office works to ensure that residents are treated with dignity and that their voices are heard in matters related to their care.
