Become a Pen Pal to a local 3rd or 4th grade student in your county. Students and volunteers are matched by the county RSVP coordinator and volunteers are provided with a schedule and information about their student. Students start off by writing the first letter to their volunteer Pen Pal, and volunteers respond by answering questions and sharing life experiences with their students. Following a series of 3 exchanged letters, volunteers and students get to meet their Pen Pals at a fun Meet & Greet party at a local park or at the school.

The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) sponsored by Lakes Regional Healthcare is seeking dedicated volunteers to join as counselors. SHIIP counselors provide free one-on-one assistance to help Medicare beneficiaries, their caregivers or representatives with questions and problems related to Medicare & related health insurance. Counselors also assist their sponsor site to create awareness of SHIIP/SMP services in the county through informal discussions with partners or group presentations. Volunteer counselors are provided with training and regular update trainings at no charge. Volunteers are encouraged to join now to become trained for Open Enrollment (October-December).
