Summary: If you love getting things in perfect order – our library needs you! The books need “weeded” to take out the old, unused or damaged items, “dusted” and “straightened” so our patrons can find just the right book! Volunteers aged 55 or better are needed to help with the Malvern Public Library’s organization and cleaning. We need your smiling face, your helping hands and your attention to detail to help our customers access their books easily and enjoy the library environment!
Duties: Volunteers would help library staff with organizing reading materials and cleaning through the following responsibilities:
· Weed out old, unused or damaged items from the shelves.
· Organize materials to ensure they are easily located by library patrons.
· Improve the library environment by dusting shelves and vacuuming carpeted areas.
· Attend occasional information and planning meetings with library staff.
Audience & Benefits: Your work will benefit all library patrons by improving the organization of library materials and cleanliness of the environment. This helps to meet the library’s mission to stimulate and nurture a desire to read in people of all ages in a welcoming atmosphere.
Required Skills: Bring your love of books, good organizational skills and attention to detail. Volunteers must be aged 55 or better.
Report to: Volunteer Manager will provide scheduling assistance with supervision provided by librarians.
Volunteer Schedule – Volunteer coverage is needed 3-5 days per week for 1-2 hours. You are asked to sign up at a minimum of 1 day each week for 1-2 hours, but feel free to sign up for more! The library is open 6 days per week so days/times can be set to meet your schedule.
