Summary: Do you excel at problem solving and completing a challenging puzzle? The library needs YOU!!! A volunteer aged 55 or better is needed to coordinate the Malvern Public Library’s Volunteer Program. We need your smiling face, your organizational abilities and scheduling skills to be sure our volunteers are available to enhance library services for patrons. We have volunteers ready to fill several positions, and we need a “Coordination King or Queen” to keep it all rolling!
Duties: Volunteers would help library staff with the following responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule our Youth Activities Volunteers to cover activities and after-school hours. Coordinate and schedule our Community Volunteers to meet gardening and educational needs. Coordinate and schedule Book Weeder and Organizational Volunteers to meet the librarians’ needs. Coordinate and schedule Delivery Volunteers to assure weekly coverage. Coordinate and schedule other volunteers as programs are added. Attend an occasional planning meeting with library staff and volunteers.
Audience & Benefits: You will benefit all library patrons through the work provided by those you coordinate and schedule. You will be supporting young people as they develop new skills and meet other children in a safe space, increasing their confidence and ability to be successful. You will be directly contributing to the library’s mission to fully enhance learning experiences for all patrons.
Required Skills: Bring your love of a good puzzle, great communication skills, and your positive energy to share with others. Volunteers must be aged 55 or better.
Reports To: The Library Director will be the direct report for this position.
Volunteer Schedule – Volunteer coverage is needed weekly for 2 hours. Your work could be done in the library as well as remotely if that works best for you. The library is open 6 days per week so days/times can be set to meet your schedule.
