The RSVP Youth Reading/Math volunteer will provide help with reading and math, and companionship to elementary students.
Program description
Reading and math are critical skills for life. To help students achieve their full potential in these areas, the RSVP Youth Reading/Math Program is asking for volunteers to aid in individual and small groups. Volunteers will be asked to follow teachers’ detailed instructions with a small group of students and engage in reading and math activities.
Duties:
● Interact with elementary students and be a welcoming adult face.
● Provide help with reading and math as needed.
● Protect the privacy and confidentiality of students and their families.
Skills required:
● RSVP Volunteers must be 55 years of age or better.
● Relate well to staff, volunteers and children, and work with a team approach.
● Willingness to support students in their academic work.
● Must successfully pass a background check.
Amount of Time: 1–2-hour weekly shifts – we will work with your schedule.
Time of Day: As scheduled during school hours, Monday through Friday.
Supervisor: Supervision is provided by the Classroom Teacher.
