Opportunities From: Volunteer Iowa

Volunteer: Kitchen Help: Mon & Tues 3-5pm

Justyna Miranda, owner of City Girl Farming + Prepared Meals, has nourished our community with her delicious meals, warm friendship, and her unwavering spirit – and now she needs our help.

Very recently, she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive adrenal cancer that she is actively fighting. The City Girl Farming Team is stepping up to keep normal operations while their trusty leader is in recovery, and with this transition, we are still looking for some additional help – which is where YOU come in!

On Mondays and Tuesdays, we are looking for a couple of volunteers to assist our kitchen crew with meal prep tasks and dish washing. It is a fun and uplifting environment at NEW LOCATION in Steeple Square (101 E 15th St, Dubuque, IA 52001). Music is always playing, interesting conversations, and laughs are being shared almost all the time and as we prepare, cook, and package that week's delicious meals. Lately, dishes have been where our volunteers have been the most helpful!

If you're looking for a fun way to spend some volunteer hours, if you're interested in kitchen work but have never tried it, or if you're just looking to try something different for a couple hours: Sign Up Today! No previous experience required but please wear your hair completely back and closed toed shoes.

The team and our community would greatly appreciate your help in these specifically trying times. Thanks so much!

Any questions when you arrive? Call Theresa at (262)729-5725

Volunteer: Conmigo's Winter Concert

We’re preparing for our Annual Winter Concert, a beloved tradition where our students and their families come together to sing, laugh, and celebrate the holiday season together.

This special event not only celebrates the holiday season but also gives us the opportunity to make sure every one of our 90 students—from 6 weeks to 5-year-olds—feels the magic of the holidays. Many of our families face financial challenges, and we want to ensure that no child is left out of the celebration. Our goal is simple: to provide each student with at least one meaningful holiday gift, regardless of their family's circumstances.

You can help make this possible. Whether through a monetary donation of $40 per child or by contributing a new gift of equal value, your generosity will directly bring smiles, excitement, and warmth to a child who might otherwise go without.

Volunteer: Holidog Bazaar Set Up Helper

Here is the link to sign up:   Holidog Bazaar Setup Helper

We could use some help setting up for our largest fundraiser of the year: Holidog Bazaar 2025!

Volunteers are needed during the day on Friday, December 5th.  We start at around 8am and if we have enough helpers are usually done by 3-4pm or earlier!

Some shifts start at our shelter loading up all the goods, merchandise and raffle baskets (please don't carry them by the plastic bag wrapped around them!)

Some shifts start at the event venue (near NewBo)  moving tables and chairs getting everything set up and ready.

Some shifts involve setting out merch making sure it looks "pretty" (and not sloppy/throw together) and pricing items).

Lots to do and we could use the help if you're free during the daytime!

Thanks in advance!

p.s. We do have a few pack up shifts still for AFTER our actual event on Saturday Dec 6th concluded (same link)

Volunteer: Toy Wrapping at Conmigo

We’re preparing for our Annual Winter Concert, a beloved tradition where our students and their families come together to sing, laugh, and celebrate the holiday season together.

This special event not only celebrates the holiday season but also gives us the opportunity to make sure every one of our 90 students—from 6 weeks to 5-year-olds—feels the magic of the holidays. Many of our families face financial challenges, and we want to ensure that no child is left out of the celebration. Our goal is simple: to provide each student with at least one meaningful holiday gift, regardless of their family's circumstances.

We are asking for help with gift wrapping close to 90 gifts this holiday season. Your generosity will directly bring smiles and excitement to our students during their winter concert. Please consider joining us for a afternoon of gift wrapping!

To know you are helping someone and comforting them makes me feel very happy to be a volunteer. The best part of being a volunteer is being there for someone who might not have anyone, and letting them know they are not alone. The connections I have made through volunteering are some that I will cherish and be thankful for." - Lindsey
