The ideal would be a summer camp for elementary-aged children, middle school, and high school. We are looking for volunteers to help plan, design, and lead these summer camps for 2026. Cedar Rock State park preserves the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Lowell Walter Residence. The Usonian-style house was constructed on a bank of the Wapsipinicon River near Quasqueton, Iowa, in 1950. Frank Lloyd Wright is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most famous architects of all time. He designed eight of the 26 UNESCO World Heritage sites in the United States. The Walter House is on the National Register of Historic Places in Iowa. It is a very distinct house in the Frank Lloyd Wright world because it is one of only 25 Wright dwellings with his signature block, which was Wright’s way to communicate a house of noteworthy dissection. Cedar Rock State park preserves the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Lowell Walter Residence. The Usonian-style house was constructed on a bank of the Wapsipinicon River near Quasqueton, Iowa, in 1950. Frank Lloyd Wright is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most famous architects of all time. He designed eight of the 26 UNESCO World Heritage sites in the United States. The Walter House is on the National Register of Historic Places in Iowa. It is a very distinct house in the Frank Lloyd Wright world because it is one of only 25 Wright dwellings with his signature block, which was Wright’s way to communicate a house of noteworthy dissection. Volunteer: Blacksmith/Maintenance/Skilled Volunteers Needed!By supplementing museum staff without receiving direct remuneration, volunteers enable the Museum & Aquarium to expand our services to the public, to further research and develop operations, and to project and maintain our positive image in the community. The Blacksmith/Maintenance/Skilled volunteer (Boat Shop) is located in the boat shop or blacksmith shop in the Mississippi River Discovery Center. This is a group of volunteers that get together on Thursday mornings to help with electrical, woodworking, blacksmithing, building, and repairing projects for the Museum & Aquarium. If you like to work with your hands, have a skill that you would like to utilize or have wanting to learn a skill, this is the position for you! Blacksmith/Maintenance/Skilled volunteers are needed 2 days a week (days may change) currently each Thursday morning but we are looking at adding skilled volunteers on Saturdays and Sundays, once trained. (The Museum & Aquarium requires at least 10 hours per year to remain an active volunteer). Volunteers must be 18+ years to volunteer for this position.
