Volunteer: Garden for Food PantriesHelp us grow healthy produce for food-insecure neighbors in our area! Metro Catholic Outreach (MCO) and Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center partner in our garden space at Prairiewoods in Hiawatha where produce is grown for the MCO and Hiawatha Library food pantries. Gardening experience is helpful, but not necessary! Many needed tasks include planting, weeding, mulching, mowing, harvesting, watering, etc. We have many things available to do for upper elementary through adult/retired volunteers. Time commitments available range from a single session, a few sessions, weekly during the season or part of our season, or twice/week. Any amount of help is very appreciated! Group shifts 9 am - noon on Tuesday & Friday during the season (April - October). Other times for independent service including evenings & weekends are available after a brief orientation. Corporate, Church, Friend & Family groups are also welcome to schedule service sessions. Students can earn service hours by helping us! Metro Catholic Outreach (MCO) and Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center partner in our garden space at Prairiewoods in Hiawatha where produce is grown for the MCO and Hiawatha Library food pantries. Gardening experience is helpful, but not necessary! Many needed tasks include planting, weeding, mulching, mowing, harvesting, watering, etc. We have many things available to do for upper elementary through adult/retired volunteers. Time commitments available range from a single session, a few sessions, weekly during the season or part of our season, or twice/week. Any amount of help is very appreciated! Group shifts 9 am - noon on Tuesday & Friday during the season (April - October). Other times for independent service including evenings & weekends are available after a brief orientation.
