The RSVP Childcare Classroom Helper: Your job requires you to bring your listening ears, your patience, your love for children and lots of smiles as you help children and teachers in their daycare and learning journey. This volunteer will provide classroom help and companionship to daycare students and teachers at Turnbull Child Development Center.
Program description: Education provides critical skills for life. To help students achieve their full potential, the Turnbull Child Development Center is seeking volunteers to aid in classroom activities, assisting children ages 1-12 and their teachers with playtime and other classroom activities. Volunteers will be asked to follow teachers’ instructions while working with children and assist the teacher with preparation and other classroom activities.
Duties:
● Interact with children ages 1-12 and be a welcoming adult face
● Provide help to children and teachers as needed. This does not include hands on care.
● Protect the privacy and confidentiality of students and their families
Skills required:
● Must be 55 years of age or older.
● Must successfully pass a background check.
● Relate well to staff, volunteers and students and work with a team approach.
● Willingness to support children in the childcare setting.
Supervisor: Volunteers will be supervised by the staff of Turnbull Child Development Center with overall supervision provided by the Director.
Amount of Time: 2-hour weekly shifts, varies – we will work with your schedule. A minimum of 1 shift weekly is appreciated, but feel free to take more!
Time of Day: As available during the Center’s hours - Monday through Friday.
