Across the Road is a new initiative aimed at connecting community members with our clients electronically in engaging ways to develop relationships and enhance lives during this time of isolation, and potentially beyond.
Trivium Life Services is a non-profit organization devoted to supporting adults in our community who, for various reasons, are unable to live completely on their own. Most have some sort of intellectual or physical disability, or are dealing with serious mental illness or substance abuse.
How it Works: Picture this – A community member and a client who both love Harry Potter connect once a week for 20-30 minutes to read and discuss the books together via a Teams Meeting or Zoom. Or, a resident of a local nursing home and a client who both love chess connect with each other to play online, building a friendship and addressing their common need for social interaction. The possibilities are endless! Yoga! Karaoke! Art tutorial! Show off your pets! etc!
Virtual interactions can be a one-time thing, or meet weekly, monthly, etc.
